The Ultimate Guide To Testosterone Killing Foods

If you are still in doubt –  All the food that kills you also kills your Testosterone.

Some sort of food like slow poison, you don’t die immediately after lunch.

Truly, sometimes you can, but let’s be positive and smart.

In the quest to boost testosterone, knowing what kind of Testosterone Killing Foods to avoid in our everyday routine is just as important as knowing what to add.

How your food can drop your testosterone

The science behind  low testosterone levels and nutrition

It has been shown in many studies that Testosterone Levels are lower in men with Obesity, Metabolic Syndrome, and Type 2 Diabetes.

A large proportion of men suffering from these disorders have classic symptoms of testosterone deficiency, which can diagnose Hypogonadism.

Hypogonadism is a state in which your body fails to produce enough of the hormone testosterone.

Obesity is increasing dramatically across most of the modern world. Just look around you.

How much fat is there right now?

The main reason behind this poor quality food is literally killing us.

Remember, poor-quality food is also testosterone-killing food.

Obesity is a significant risk factor for the development of Metabolic Syndrome and Type 2 Diabetes.

Metabolic Syndrome is a group of risk factors that increase your risk for heart disease and other health conditions.

Metabolic Syndrome and Type 2 Diabetes are associated with increased morbidity and mortality from cardiovascular disease.

3/4 of men with Type 2 Diabetes die of Coronary Heart Disease and Stroke.

We have a significant volume of published research, which links testosterone deficiency with important cardiovascular risk factors, especially those which comprise the key components of the metabolic syndrome.

Insulin resistance is the common biochemical abnormality between these conditions and is in itself a well recognized cardiovascular risk factor.

Understanding the link between testosterone and obesity and insulin resistance is vital.

The food that makes you fat actually kills your testosterone.

I hope you got that you must improve your nutrition.

What you need to understand is that a cheat meal once per week or some junk food can’t kill you immediately and you can enjoy it moderately.

If you diet most of the time is clean

I mean natural food and not SAD Diet

Standard American Diet – SAD Diet

Why do we need to avoid this western world food consumption style?

The typical American diet is

  • Low in greens
  • High in sodium
  • High in processed food
  • High in trans fats
  • Low in omega-3 fatty acids
  • High in omega-6 fatty acids
  • Low in fiber
  • High in sugar-sweetened beverages

Combined with poor meal frequency, this diet causes the body to release massive amounts of insulin when they are consumed. The excess insulin release and overconsumption of calories both lead to fat gain, which desensitizes the body to insulin and starts a vicious health-damaging cycle.

The fat gain also leads to several negative downstream effects, such as increased body inflammation (via cellular degradation) and increased blood glucose levels. The average American is either overweight or obese and likely suffers from some level of insulin resistance (ex. prediabetes, or type 2 diabetes) due to their diet and overall lifestyle.

Food  and drinks to avoid

Highly Processed Foods = Testosterone Killing Foods

The worst of which are the typical kind of pastries that you see at the convenience store.

Cookies, candies, brownies and other similar products are not healthy for your testosterone.

There are many reasons to avoid highly processed foods –

Trans fats, a lot of sugar and what’s called emulsifiers.

You are familiar with emulsifiers, even though you don’t know it.

When you put the detergent in the laundry that contains emulsifiers, the goal of that detergent is to bring together fatty molecules with water molecules and be able to dissociate them and break them up to get the stains out of clothes and things of that sort.

There are a lot of emulsifiers put into processed foods.

Emulsifiers allow certain chemical reactions to occur that extend the shelf life of foods.

So it’s like candy bars and cereals, and all sorts of things that are in processed foods.

Emulsifiers extend into chips of various kinds and even some meats of various kinds.

They have names like soy lecithin and other things.

And they are a reason you want to eat far more of these highly processed foods.

And so, recently there was a paper that came out in Cell, a Cell Press Journal, it’s kind of the apex of Cell journals, which is phenomenal.

This paper showed that ingesting highly processed food leads to more intake of not just highly processed foods, but other types of food in general.

There was kind of an overeating compensation generally across foods for people that consume these highly processed foods. And there are a lot of other reasons to avoid highly processed foods.

So these highly processed foods are really terrible.

And  I’m not out here to say, you know, never enjoy a processed food of any kind,

I do eat processed foods from time to time.

Although the ones that I tend to eat, I try and make of the healthy variety.

Forget about all of these things:

Lunchmeat, hot dogs, dried soup mixes, frozen dinners, heat and eat foods such as frozen burritos and pizza, and pasta and potato boxes, cookies, candies, brownies, and other similar products.

You want to avoid food that is fried, processed, contains a lot of artificial colors, flavors, and preservatives.

Simple carbs

BAD carbs are simple in structure, low in nutrients and fiber, higher in sugar content, and are digested faster by the body. They sharply elevate blood sugar, causing a heightened insulin response.

Examples of bad carbohydrates would be white bread, white rice, fruit juice.

Beer and Testosterone

Ah, beer, men’s liquid sanctuary.

Real men drink beer, don’t they?

I drink beer and love it. Or should I say, I used to drink beer and love it? If you suffer from a flabby chest, what you are about to read will have talked about beer in past tense, as I do now.

You may hate me for including this information, but you will love me after you have a flat chest.

Sadly, the beer is giving you a sex change. A slow-motion sex change. Beer is turning you into a woman. It makes your boobs bigger, changes your posture from ‘at-attention” to slouch, and lowers your sex drive.

As you know, hops are one of the main ingredients in beer. This was not always the case.

Study history and you will learn that the German Beer Purity Act of 1516 made it law that beer had to be made with hops. Prior to this, beer was primarily made by herbs such as yarrow, big myrtle, and marsh rosemary. This combination of herbs and fermentation was both mentally and sexually stimulating. The drink was called Great. Naturally, the Protestants did not like these side effects.

Because of Gruit’s effect’s on the population, Protestants in Germany helped push the purity act, all the while knowing that hops reduce the male sex drive. It was a win-win-win for the Church leaders. When you look at today’s society, almost all commercial beers are brewed with hops. Not the best ingredient for America’s plummeting firth rate.

But hopes are so innocent, aren’t they? And what do they have to do with your chest?

They taste great and so hoppy.

Unfortunately, hops are exploding with phytoestrogens.

Phytoestrogens are plant estrogen.

Drinking beer is like funneling estrogen down your throat.

I think back to my beer bong and keg stand days during college and wonder why I had a large chest despite working out and eating healthy.

Drinking a lot of beer will cause you health problems.

Even non-alcoholic beer will mess up your hormonal balance.

For those of you who do enjoy a nice cold frosty beer, I would advise you to enjoy it sparingly and maybe think about changing your particular poison.

Alcohol

Overdoing the alcohol can inhibit testosterone production on many levels.

Alcohol causes a twenty percent drop in most males and this figure goes up to fifty percent in alcoholics.

Alcohol depletes zinc and this is critical for testosterone production.

It also impacts your endocrine system, which will stop testosterone production when too much alcohol is present.

Soda and other carbonated beverages

A study of 545 men aged 20–39 years in the United States published in Reproductive Biology and Endocrinology showed those in the top quartile of the consumption of sugar-sweetened beverage intake (440 calories or about 36 ounces of soda a day) exhibited a dramatically increased chance of developing low testosterone.

Soy  and Testosterone: conflicting studies

Soy is widely studied for its estrogenic and anti-estrogenic effects on the body. Studies may seem to present conflicting conclusions about soy, but this is largely due to the wide variation in how soy is studied. Soy is a nutrient-dense source of protein that can safely be consumed several times a week and is likely to provide  some health benefits

Many people believe regular consumption of soy products develops gynecomastia.

Researchers at Brooke Army Medical Center in Texas highlighted a single case of man boobs growth in a healthy 60-year-old man who consumed 3 quarts of soy milk a day for a period of time and grew a large chest.

Soy products are a rich source of nutrient isoflavones, which have a mild estrogen presence in them. There isn’t enough scientific evidence to totally ban soy products from the diet. Soy is a nutrient-dense source of protein that may safely be consumed several times a week. But you need to be careful.

If you have a serious case of gynecomastia, then you could stop consuming soy products, otherwise, a small size of soy won’t be harmful.

Researchers at Brooke Army Medical Center in Texas highlighted a single case of man boobs growth in a healthy 60-year-old man who consumed 3 quarts of soy milk a day for a period of time and grew a large chest.

If you no vegan:  Eliminate all soy additives, soy proteins, and soy bio-products from your diet

Oils with a high omega-6 content

These are the so-called “vegetable” oils. Found at your typical grocery store, these clear, tasteless, highly refined, and processed oils include corn, soybean, canola, safflower, and sunflower oils.

These highly unstable, highly inflammatory oils are sources of Omega 6.

Omega 6 fats not only fuel your body’s inflammatory pathways, but also reduce the availability of anti-inflammatory omega 3 fats in your tissues, resulting in more inflammation.

In other words, break down omega-6 fats all the benefits of eating omega-3 would normally give you.

Consuming too many omega 6 fats also increases the likelihood of inflammatory diseases.

Margarine

Various kinds of margarine containing trans-fatty acids were marketed as being healthier because of the absence of cholesterol, suggesting to use of margarine instead of butter. The research documented the grave health risk of trans-fats.  US FDA in 2015 finalized its decision that trans-fat is not safe.

Margarine is determined to your Testosterone levels and it has many other downsides. Margarine was created as a cheap substitute to butter and as far from a natural product.

Sugar

One of the reasons why we should avoid processed sugars is the fact that it drops our Testosterone levels significantly.  While it may be hard to totally stay away from sugar, I recommended cutting out all four which contain high amounts of sugars.  The first couple of weeks were very hard, it felt like I was detoxing from drugs. By the way,  sugar is considered to be more addictive than cocaine.

Research shows that on average, men and women in the U.S. have about 12 teaspoons of sugar PER DAY in their diets. Research also shows that testosterone decreases within your body after eating sugar due to the resulting insulin spike.

Non-organic diaries,  skim or low-fat milk

Non-organic cheese is full of hormones and antibiotics and eating this kind of cheese regularly will cause hormone imbalance in the body.

Non-organic cheese is more harmful than non-organic milk because of the high concentration of fat and the high concentration of fat means a heavy dose of an unwanted hormone with every bite.

Herbicides in Your Greens

Much like pesticides, herbicides also contain harmful ingredients that lead to increased estrogen within your body.

As your body’s estrogen increases, your natural testosterone decreases, which is the exact opposite of what you’re trying to achieve.

You want to focus on fruits, vegetables, and foods that are grown naturally.

Too much fiber

While fiber is very important for your digestive system, too much fiber will kill your Testosterone levels. A study, which measured several people who went on a high fiber diet, showed that these people had a decrease of 12% in their testosterone levels. It’s good to eat fiber, but don’ overdo it. These contain fiber and steroidal saponins, which increase your Testosterone levels and simultaneously help you with your digestive system.

In the quest for increased testosterone, knowing what to avoid in our daily routine is just as important as knowing what to add! While including multiple testosterone-boosting foods, herbs and spices, and supplements can really give you an edge, make sure you steer clear of the items detailed below.

Mint and spearmint

Mint is good for breath, but bad for testosterone, as the menthol mint lowers testosterone. Spearmint is also highly estrogenic.

Licorice

Licorice root is used in tea for flavor and relieve stress, it can also be found in breath fresher and candies.

Stay away from licorice because it is even more estrogenic than estradiol. More here

Studies have shown male patients with type 2 diabetes and chronic hepatitis who consume licorice, have lower-level serum testosterone concentrations.

Marijuana

Science found that active ingredients of marijuana result low rate of testosterone production in animals. It is noticed by many scientists that marijuana smokers have a lower rate of testosterone in their bodies than non-marijuana smokers.

Does coffee kill testosterone?

Harvard research tells us very interesting things

Among men, consumption of caffeinated coffee increased total testosterone and decreased total and free estradiol. Among women, decaffeinated coffee decreased total and free testosterone and caffeinated coffee decreased total testosterone.

Crash Diets

Going on crash diets is one way to kill your Testosterone levels.

One of the most common mistakes people make when starting their weight loss journey is that they cut out too much of their calories.

They think that the more calories they cut,  the better.

But that is not the case with losing weight. In order to lose weight in a healthy way, you need to cut out a maximum of 20% of your calories to gain all the benefits.

Also going on crash diets will deprive you of your energy, will demotivate you and you are more likely to develop a binge eating disorder.

So don’t fall for the lose 100 pounds in 5 days scams, they are all developed to rob you of your money. As these diets will never work in the long term.
